Greening your lifestyle shouldn’t only take place on St. Patrick’s Day. In fact, owning or leasing a vehicle with advanced high-strength steels (AHSS) can make the world a greener place! Did you know AHSS requires less energy and emissions to produce than any other automotive body material, reduces vehicle weight with lighter weight parts, which increases fuel economy and is 100 percent recyclable? This St. Paddy’s Day, SMDI is celebrating some of our greenest steel-intensive cars with a few Irish-inspired limericks:
One steel car is the Chevrolet Volt
Which drives even faster than a colt!
It is built with more power
For more miles per hour
Especially to make a quick bolt.
The Honda Civic hoped for weight loss
So it hired steel to be its boss.
It gave advice and consent
To increase the AHSS percent
Slimming by a 68 pound gross.
The Pacifica looked to redesign
and create an even more rigid steel spine.
It used advanced steels
Which is a big deal
‘Cuz all new owners will be on cloud nine!
The Prius wanted more than just one wish
Like safety, weight loss and strength not to squish.
It increased its high-strength steel use
Now Toyota can introduce
A greener Prius most sporty and swish!
While limericks tend to be silly, the message is the same – steel-intensive vehicles provide the answer to our never-ending question on how we can help save the Earth. Steel-intensive vehicles provide greater value in meeting fuel economy regulations and will do so with significantly lower CO2 impact. So remember, don’t just think of how to sport green on St. Patrick’s Day. Instead, choose a steel-intensive car to represent green all year round.
Do you have an idea for another green car limerick? We’d love to see it in the comments below! With a little Irish luck, we might even comment with one back!
